March 7th Program – Understanding Scientific Names

Author portraits of Fries, Linnaeus, and Persoon.

Patrick Leacock, mycologist and IMA President, begins our 2016 program series. This illustrated presentation explains the usage of scientific names in relation to the rules of nomenclature. Fries, Linnaeus, and Persoon are the starting point authors. Since their work, the names of mushrooms have been changing for more than 250 years. Scientific names and classification reflect our best understanding of species and how they are related.

Monday, March 7th, 7:30 PM.
