Workshop – Mushroom Identification 2

Workshop 2 – Identification Keys for Mushrooms

Sunday, June 5th, 1:00 – 3:00 PM
North Park Village Nature Center
with Patrick Leacock

This workshop will demonstrate how to use written keys for mushroom identification. We will use the keys by Michael Kuo: those on his website and the similar keys in his book, Michael Kuo and Andrew Methven. 2014. Mushrooms of the Midwest. University of Illinois Press.

If you have the Kuo and Methven book please bring it to the workshop. We will have a few copies for people to use. You are welcome to bring fresh mushrooms you have found for identification.

Note: This Sunday afternoon is the day before our June program with Michael Kuo on Monday evening, June 6th.

This event is free to members and their guests. A $5 donation is suggested for non-members. Of course you are welcome to join the club at this event. For further information, contact Patrick at

North Park Village Nature Center is located just off the Edens Expressway (I-94). You will exit at Peterson and travel east to Pulaski. Go south (right) on Pulaski a short ways until you reach the North Park Village complex which will be on the east (left) side of the street. Once you have entered the complex, follow the signs, bearing left. You will come to a group of buildings surrounding parking lots on the right. The Nature Center is on the left (North) as you enter. It is a small building, with a small sign and prairie garden in front.
